From skinny knife pleats to wide paneled pleats, accordion folds are no longer just for preppy school girl skirts. As you can see, pleats are becoming one of my favorite closet trends and this city chic look can be yours to. Teamed with midi and maxi as well as mini hemlines and unexpected textures like leather. You can style it with baseball jackets and slouchy sweaters and tees over blazers and oxfords, I'm telling you pleated skirts no longer just scream preppy. This forest green pleated skirt looked soooo chic hanging on the rack, I just had to purchase it. I can honestly say I had a really hard time finding a blouse. I tried on countless tops four hours and finally found the perfect one. I was really looking for the perfect fit so that I was able to tuck it in and show the seam-line of my skirt. This plum puffy shouldered turtle neck definitely brought my vision to life.
blEW Era
Normally the two colors that compliment me best are orange and red but for some reason I was feeling blue... and I mean literally blue. There's no better way than to express yourself through clothes. Now this light grey sweatshirt with blue, black and white fur on the sleeves was not attractive to any of my friends at all but I just had a feeling that I could take it and make it impeccable. With fall approaching I decided to stay warm by pairing my sweater with some mid-rise contrasting jeans. Now to be completely honest, every since leggings became a thing I completely strayed away from jeans. But for some reason the light and dark denim tone placements in these were a ultimate statement piece. The accessories with this outfit definitely played a big role. The love for a short brim fedora hat with my New York frames made this look very casual but yet chic. But wait I didn't stop there, lets talk about my shoes ladies. Inspired by designer Vetements, my white booties are this seasons new trend. I was worried that white boots would skew too costume-y, but when paired with my usual bottoms and sweatshirt, the look was unexpected, but effortless.
London Vibes in NYC
September 14, 2017 was the first day of London Fashion Week and to contribute, I decided to make sure my wardrobe was an ultimate essential while attending New York Fashion Week. The a semi-annual series of events when international fashion collections are shown to buyers, the press and like myself, fashion stylists, you have to make sure that your first appearance is everything. Of course, there is no precise definition of "London style," as what is so celebrated about fashion in that city is that anything goes—there is no set uniform. However, my kangaroo hat and frame-less glasses definitely were self explanatory. I actually added the leather shorts last because I just didn't know what was going to compliment my plaid trench coat. While adding finishing touches my cherry red boots was the statement piece to bring this outfit to life. The key to this entire look was creativity and versatility.
Transit
Oh, hello September!!! This is best time to welcome every fashionista to show off her best fall combos. With the wind blowing and transitioning from taxi to taxi in New York City, its a must that every piece flows effortlessly. What a better way to start off extra big and oversize. With mustard being such a poppy autumn essential and because stripes are fun and classic, don’t be shy about pairing. My trench coat aligned perfectly with my asymmetric stripe shirt but I didn't stop there. Pairing my forest green metallic ankle split trousers brought more obsession to my outfit than I thought. They also went perfect with my floral booties. What a way to mix patterns!!!
Color Block
Mixing and Matching can be a bit risky but yet super fun. Floral prints are the ultimate trend for the 2017 summer season and I absolutely love my white oversize button-down with embroidered floral prints around the shoulders. My pearl earrings brightens out my crisp white top even more. While pairing my color block mini skirt with vibrant colors, it separated the multi-color statement. Kick off the outfit with a caramel quilted hand bag and bronze ruffled sandals.
Casual Fringe or Tassel T, you decide?!
Fringe trend has been making a HUGE comeback since 2014 for both fall and spring seasons. In fact fringe is taking it back to those ’80s, so just when you thought it couldn’t get any better. BAM! It did! It’s glamorous, sultry and quite sexy, and a very modern silhouette look. This olive top is already unique so I really didn't have to do much to make it pop. The placement of the tassels are perfect and I I love how the hang pass the hip line. Since my top was a dark shade I deiced to wear a light tone trousers, but not just any grey trouser. The side stripe pants are at the top of the trend report and has turned athleisure wear into in street wear slacks. You can embrace yours with a nice cap-toe bootie or a pair of dope platform kicks.
Graceful
I thought of going a bit in time with today’s post, when the fabulous Diane Von Furstenberg invented the iconic wrap dress that was a symbol of femininity, women’s freedom, a staple, and so much more than just a dress. It’s easy to get into, and easier to get out of. While floral is still trending, why not take advantage. This tan wrap dress, with bell sleeves includes a vine of red roses with a chic high split. From jerseys to silk, to long sleeves or no sleeves, from mini to maxi lengths, from wild prints to clean designs – there are infinite styles, and even more infinite ways of wearing a wrap dress.
Le Rouge
Did someone say girls night and cocktail drinks?! What better way to make a girl boss statement than with a killer blazer dress this summer season. Everyone knows when in doubt you wear red, especially for that after five attire. Always go for slim and fit, it gives off that tailored look. While adding finishing touches, I layered my blazer dress with a all black leather fringe belt. Super edgy, right?! During the night, I suggest wearing my all black on-the-go mini bag and your most comfortable all black pumps. Now slay and enjoy those drinks!!!
Over Exaggerated
Today I want to share with you Autumn-Winter looks for 2017, which is what consists of plenty mannish and pants outfits. This look is dedicated to all working-women who pay a great attention to details and comfort. So, if you are a professional woman who needs classic updates, then you are more than welcome to check out this look. Personally, I love this style of trousers, they are high-waisted which elongates the leg while being loose and free. The over size trouser makes them comfier and more practical than our standard skinny jeans. Now below you'll see how I have layered a relaxed fit shirt but not just your typical shirt. This all white top elongates dramatic sleeves, so why not add your favorite crop to give it a chic definition. I decided to choose a all black crop top with embroidered hemline.
Solstice and Palms
It’s often difficult to decide what to wear and how to wear it, especially in Miami’s scorching mid-summer heat. Shorts and a tank top might cut it in other parts of Florida, but Miami has a palpable passion for trend-setting style and beauty. Now to help a few of my fashionistas out, its pretty common to wear skimpy pieces and show plenty of skin but that doesn't mean you necessarily have to. I decided to let my body breathe by wearing the perfect champagne metallic pleaded skirt. This season’s skirt comes in a variety of colors and textures, so you no longer have to categorize it as just a school uniform staple. To keep my outfit chic and classy, I styled it with a blue and white button up shirt. It definitely brought out that edgy look I was going for.
LIMEmade
You already know that the shirt style of the summer was the off-the-shoulder top. Now that seriously everyone is wearing it, you might start wondering if it's a bit passé, but hear me out—this is one of those trends that just won't die. I stepped out in one that was a bit unique in the sense that it looked more like a work shirt, artfully slung around my shoulders. This fresh styling was paired with a bright yellow ruffled-waisted trouser. I felt this was the perfect way to make the trend feel updated. To add my finishing touches, I accessorized with a caramel vintage pair of glasses and my favorite yet most comfortable all black open toe sandals.
Rust Up
When the first of September approaches, you can definitely tell that not only are the seasons changing but so is the color scheme that comes along. But who says you have to wait until the fall to pull out those beautiful rust colors! What could be easier than your favorite pair of pleaded bottoms, a tank and a breezy kimono? It’s feminine, flattering and a simple rust tank or tee keeps the look super polished. I decided to pair mines with the same color bottoms as well. To spice things up, my floral print and olive green Kimono was the ultimate go-to. Kimonos and Ruana wraps have been on trend the past few seasons and this spring will be no different. Not sure if you guys have noticed but platform shoes have become one of my favorite trends this season and it can be yours too. I decided to go bold and gold, by adding a metallic platform shoe.
Opulence
Sometimes New York can be way too busy for heels... but who says you can't still embrace that on-the-go city look! Flares are just about the most exciting thing to happen to denim since the advent of skinny jeans. These flares hit at the perfect spot for chunky heels. Speaking of shoes, you can wear flares with flats, a pair of comfy chunky sandals, clogs, wedges, or flatforms. Now let's play with volume, a three-quarter length trench coat can enhance the fluidity of the pants silhouette. When it comes to selecting the perfect top you can also play with patterns such as a simple stripe top or even just a white blouse.
Denim Daze
This statement-making bell sleeve shirt is a fall fashion trend. If you've been wondering why everyone's sleeves have been seemingly getting longer and longer... trust me, it's not you! Designers have a strong hold of the bell sleeve silhouette and they are not letting go anytime soon. Go full-on volume and mix this chic top with a pair of dark denim jeans. Even skinny jeans or trousers would work perfectly fine. Now you can turn up the heat and add your favorite heel. I kept mines fresh and youthful by adding my favorite strappy black sandals. It's a new take on a going-out while topping fun, dramatic and perfection for making a fashion statement. Oh yea, don't forget your amazing clutch to add your final touches.
PJ Kimono
Spring is finally here and the word Japan evokes. Are you headed to a date night and have nothing to wear? Well I have your answer! First off some of you may be asking what the heck is a kimono??? The Kimono is a iconic garment that was worn for thousands of years by all Japanese. The word Kimono literally means a thing to wear and nowadays it is mainly an outfit for any occasion. It can be worn direct, without layers but more modernly worn as a robe or sheer layer. I paired mines with straight legs slacks and a strappy open toe sandal. They are also great for the summer over a swimsuit or a light weight layer with shorts or distressed jeans.
Just Chill
I know your all wondering how can I be just simple, dope and still fashionable?! Well today was one of those days that I was feeling super lazy and had so many errands to run and fittings to attend. Todays blog is strictly dedicated to the perfect trench coat. Over the years the trench coat has turned into a real fashion must-have. Pair it with a oversize sweat shirt and nice fitted denim jeans to give it that urban easy going style. Trench coats are usually available in all sizes, therefore, every body type can wear them perfectly too. I hope this versatile piece is a must have for you as well.
Blanco'
Are you trying to wear a crop top and still look elegant? We usually all think that showing our bellybutton is a little inapproiate but I'm happy to tell you that 2017 has changed the game. You can easily pair it with the perfect trousers to dress it up or even add a simple pointy toe pump. What matters is that you can still be cool and chic wearing a crop top.
Perry Ellis
How to make your office outfits so cool you will want to wear them outside, too!? Most 9-to-5 jobs require a pretty strict dress code. If you followed the Fall Winter 2017 shows, you will also realized that office wear is mainly blazers, suits, palazzo pants, button up shirts and trenches in every way possible. Well I'm here to tell you that you can be fashionable in your own way. Today I added a perry ellis hat to my unique trousers and instead of wearing your normal button up why not add a wool crew neck top with detailed fur around the sleeves. I managed to turn formal, classical outfits into something young and cool, so cool you will actually want to wear it outside of the office.
Feeling Blue
Forget the everyday Ugg boots and college sweat shirts, lets GO-DENIM!!! I'm usually challenged by denim but this time I was a big proponent for denim and leather. With denim never going out of style, it is possible to wear an all denim and blue outfit. An all denim and blue outfit can be mixed with hints of color to tone it down. My outfit today is a monochromatic outfit. Starting with the jacket, it isn't denim material but it the perfect denim shade. It is a light blue leather detailed jacket, so I paired it with a all white tank for contrast. Now, Lets talk about the jeans. First, I love the light wash super fitted jeans, Skinny leg jeans are always a girls favorite. I finally paired my look with a yellow handbag and neon open toe sandal.
GentlewoMAN
As I was headed to my great uncle's funeral, all black is always the the ultimate go-to attire. Fashion is always changing, therefore it is important to keep tabs on what is deemed appropritate for more somber occasions. The struggle many seem to face when dressing for a funeral is to not offend the honor of the person who has passed while also being comfortable and feeling good in what you are wearing. Funerals are not about being flashy or showing off. This is the time to pull out your simple jewelry, minimal as possible. Today I wore a simple extended vest blazer that complimented a pair of tailered black trousers. To keep the attire fashionable I added a all black sheer long sleeve top and a sophisticated pointy toe pump. Taking this risk was the perfect and appropriate way to go.
