There’s something about wedding season that makes everyone immediately reach for florals, pastels and bright color. For this wedding, I wanted to go in a completely different direction.
Chocolate brown.
I chose a rich chocolate satin gown that felt romantic enough for the occasion while still staying true to my personal style. The gathered detailing through the bodice adds softness and movement, while the sculpted waist creates definition before falling into a dramatic floor-length skirt. And of course, the high slit gives the dress just enough skin to balance all of that fabric.
What really sold me on this look was the monochromatic story. Instead of introducing another color, I stayed within warm brown and gold tones from head to toe. I paired the dress with chocolate heels, oversized gold statement earrings, layered gold jewelry and a sculptural marbled handbag that almost looks like an extension of the color palette.
The accessories were intentional because the dress already has so much movement. Nothing needed to compete with it. The gold catches the light, the bag adds texture, and the slicked-back bun keeps everything clean and allows the neckline and earrings to have their moment.
It’s elegant without feeling overly traditional. Sexy without taking away from the occasion. And proof that brown absolutely belongs in the wedding guest conversation.
Sometimes the best wedding guest look isn’t about adding more.
It’s about choosing one color and letting the silhouette, texture and details do the talking.
